It has been many years since I have been to Parent Lake, the last time being the first year that Wayne and Peggy took it over. For many years in the early 70's and 80's I was a client of the Sanford Brothers. From reading the guestbook comments it seems that you have those who love to fish for the sport and those that are "meat" hunters. This year I went to a lodge north of La Dore' and we caught and released numerious Walleyes of 22 to 31 inches. You can only keep for eating or to take home those caught between 15-18 inches. Pike must be over 28" to be kept but it is encouraged to take a picture and through the large ones back. Walleyes over 19 inches were not allowed to be kept.

It is time to put size limits in place on Lake Parent to sustain the fishery for the future.

Our group has been going to this lodge for over 20 years. This past week was some of the best walleye and pike fishing we have ever had. Some years it takes time to find the fish in this lake; this year we were on them right from the start and happened to land a few big ones. Good luck to all those yet to come to the lodge this year. And, thanks Wayne and Peggy for the memories...

Looks like some good fish are being caught. I don't think that you should give the prize to someone who catches the longest fish, but rather someone who catches the largest fish. A person can catch a 20lb pike that is only 40 inches but someone else can catch one 42 inches that is 18 lbs. Most people would agree that the biggest fish is the heaviest fish. Fishing tournaments are won by weight not length. How do you really know the leader of pike really caught a 42 in. when he released it? What would prevent someone from catching a 36 in. and claiming that it was 46 in. only by a picture. You should make people bring their fish in only if they believe that it is larger than the current leader. If it is a big one that someone wants to mount then keep it and if not then release it for someone else to catch.

Wayne and Peggy,
Mark is working on a great thing here if he hasn't already told you. I am trying to get in on it as well as a pilot. Feel free to contact him for more details. It would be great to fly into Val D'or and bring hunters and fisherman to the lodge.

I agree with Alan. I am glad to see that the forums have actually opened up to the positive and that some have finally cleaned up their acts.

I think that you guys need to stop arguing over this thing. Whether someone releases a fish or keeps it, the fish are a renewable resource. It would be nice for everyone to do their own thing and not worry what others are doing. Whether people release fish or keep them, thats the decision they made and they shouldn't try to push their beliefs on others. This needs to be a place to sign in and talk about the lodge in good ways. Can you people please lay off each other. Thanks and good fishing.

Glenn,
That was probably the dumbest post I have seen yet. I never claimed to be able to run a business like that and I do have a very good job- what the hell does that have to do with catch and release. I didnt realize you people were so immature and Rufus i know your a fake - get a life!!!
